NTBHR is completely supported and run by volunteers. Join our team today! We have a variety of needs. No one can do EVERYTHING but everyone can do SOMETHING. 

FOSTER PARENT

FUNDRAISING 

• Organize fundraising campaigns and special events.
• Contact businesses for donations.

GRANT WRITING

• Identify foundation and corporate grants.  
• Prepare formal grant applications.

MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS

• Help broaden the awareness of NTBHR in the community.
• Look for opportunities to participate in community events to promote NTBHR.
• Look for media opportunities to promote NTBHR.
• Establish good relationships with local pounds, shelters and humane societies and monitor them so you’re in a position to rescue any bassets the shelter cannot place.
• Establish relationships with local veterinarians, groomers, etc, so they can contact you when they learn of a basset hound in need of rescue, or offer discounted rates for rescued dogs that need their services.

PRINTING SERVICES

If you are in the printing business, or can donate a good commercial printer to NTBHR, we have a large quanity of print material to be done.

SPECIAL EVENTS

NTBHR hosts several special events and needs volunteers to make those events happen. The annual Shuffle is held each October and is NTBHR's main fundraiser. This event requires volunteers to serve on the planning committee and to assist in registration, games, an auction, etc. NTBHR also participates in local parades to raise awareness of rescue and its mission. Volunteers are needed to hold leashes and signs, pass out flyers, etc.  Volunteers are needed to help speak with potential adopters, hold leashes, etc. The Bone Soiree is a fundraising dinner held each spring (usually in April). Volunteers are needed to arrange details, secure items for our auctions, set up, help with registration, and coordinate the evening for guests. 

TRANSPORTATION

Sometimes we need help transporting dogs from one area to another in order to be placed in foster care. There are times when foster families need help getting the hounds to/from the vet or adoption events. And sometimes NTBHR needs help transporting a hound to his or her forever family.

SHORT-TERM FOSTERING

When our full-time foster homes go on vacation, we need short-term fosters who can dog-sit for a few days. Your job would be to provide food, shelter and love while the foster parents are away. If you are interested in being a foster home, click here. 

OFFICE/ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

Do you have above average computer skills in Microsoft Office, bookkeeping, typing, or are interested in sending emails and making phone calls? We need volunteers to assist with typing, printing or assembly of adoption or foster packets.  These opportunities are on an as needed basis.
